B-Side Studio di Pietro Arfini
Mastering is the last phase of a music production, often overlooked and underestimated: it's the final touch.
At the end of the mix of one or more songs, during the mastering, the project is checked and examined to ensure that the music can be used, evenly, on the various reproduction devices (HiFi systems, notebook, bluetooth speakers...). In the case of an album, gives a balance between the tracks by compacting and defining the tracks to have a better impact by the listener.
In concrete, the equalization curves and levels are checked and conformed (thus avoiding a track to have too many or too few low / medium / high frequencies) both for commercial standards and for individual tracks. The disturbances and hums, sometimes produced during the mix, are removed: clicks, pops, noises, annoying frequencies ... Finally the fades are inserted and therefore the product is made palatable and available for trade both on physical support and on the various web platforms and streaming.
A great song is made by great takes, great mix and great mastering.
